Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has delivered good news for the club, confirming three key players will return for their away game against Everton.
The Red Devils are having a poor run in the Premier League, with eight defeats in their last 12 games, including a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham last weekend. United were without six players from the squad that beat Leicester City, adding to an already shaky squad.
However, ahead of the trip to Merseyside, Amorim has confirmed a major boost to his squad. Speaking to the media, the Portuguese confirmed that Christian Eriksen, Manuel Ugarte and Leny Yoro will be fit to play.
“We have not lost any players. On the contrary, we have Christian, Manuel and Leny back,” Amorim said.
United are currently 15th in the table, having lost 12 games since the start of the season. They had a chance to level against Spurs, but Alejandro Garnacho missed a great chance in the first half.
The upcoming match against Everton will not be easy. Despite a 4-0 win at Old Trafford earlier in the season, Everton are in very good form, taking 13 points from their last five games. If they are to win all three points, Man Utd will need a much better performance.
Of the three returning players, Ugarte could be the most important addition. Casemiro had a game to forget against Tottenham, constantly losing possession and being overwhelmed by the opposition midfield.
Along with Ugarte, Eriksen and Yoro could also be named in the starting line-up, helping Man Utd strengthen their midfield and defence in a challenging match at Goodison Park.
“Use Zirkzee and €50m for Gyokeres,” commented one United fan. “Here’s the striker we’ve been looking for,” said another. Many opinions also support MU to recruit Gyokeres soon.
Since the beginning of the 2024/25 season, Gyokeres has scored 25 goals for the club and the national team, an achievement far surpassing Man City’s Erling Haaland (17 goals). The 1.9 m tall Swedish striker possesses good speed, technique and finishing ability. His qualities were clearly demonstrated in the 4-1 victory over Man City.
The interesting thing about Gyokeres is that just last year, he played in the Championship for Coventry City. Having encountered many difficulties in his development journey, Gyokeres was not highly appreciated when he was in the foggy country. Brighton once brought this striker to the Premier League from Swedish club IF Brommapojkarna, but then loaned him out many times without seeing any outstanding potential.
Currently, Gyokeres is valued at 70 million euros by statistics site Transfermarkt.
